LM García y Griego, PhD. received his doctorate in history from UCLA in 1987. He also holds a Master’s in Demography from El Colegio de México and A.B. from Princeton University. His areas of expertise include Mexican migration to the United States since 1900; Spanish and Mexican land grants in New Mexico, colonial times to the present; qualitative and quantitative data analysis and questionnaire design (English and Spanish). He has served as an expert witness for cases involving Mexican immigrant demographic profiles, remittance flows from Mexico to the United States, community land grant elections, Pueblo Indian history and Spanish land grants, and as a consulting expert on related cases. Currently he is Associate Professor of History and Chicana and Chicano Studies at the University of New Mexico and Director of the University of New Mexico Land Grant Studies Program.
